A simple method consisting of a combination of the solutions given by the theory of small deflections and the membrane theory is used to get an approximate solution for a simply supported rectangular plate. the fornula of the approximate method is illustrated below. but the result i get from this formula is smaller than that from Levy's "exact solution". does anyone know why?
